FOGFILES with PETER FINCH

Week of August 1st - Watershed Literacy

Watershed Literacy is a fancy term which basically means teaching people about all the critters who live in the bay and beyond.  Peter Finch is pictured here with Carrie Chen, Director of Education and Conservation at the Aquarium of the Bay, and teen Interpretive Naturalist Jasmine Lee.  For more on the Aquarium of the Bay, go to:
http://www.aquariumofthebay.org.  For more on the Bay Institute, which runs the aquarium, log on to www.bay.org.

Week of July 11th - Garbage Guy

Solano Avenue in Albany and Berkeley is spotless, thanks largely to Allen Cain.  He begins every weekday by powerwalking Solano, picking up every single piece of trash he sees.  He's very proud of Solano Avenue, so I'll include a link to his beloved neighborhood here:
http://www.solanoavenueassn.org/

The learning curve is pretty steep for some seniors trying to figure out computers, and yet technology can certainly enhance the lives of the elderly.  A couple related links:

Did you seeing the women doing sign language for the hearing impaired at KFOG KaBoom?  Peter Finch had the chance to talk to them about what they do.  Interesting stuff.  Check it out. (thanks to Foghead Randy Hees for sharing his photo with us)

Week of April 18th - San Francisco Sirens

This week we meet the guy in charge of the sirens they test every Tuesday at Noon in San Francisco.  If you're on Facebook you can join the "San Francisco Outdoor Public Warning System" if like Peter Finch, you're geeky enough to want to follow these sirens.  By the way, if they end up using Dave Morey to record a new "this is only a test" message, you read it here first.

If you know your Silicon Valley lore, you know the significance of this photo.  Business-management guru Tom Peters is a fan of the Valley.  In this Fogfiles, he tells us why.
