What did you miss on the KFOG Morning Show? KaBoom Eve, May 9th: Comedian Greg Behrendt stopped by. Turns out, he's been busy! Even though his day time talk show stint didn't work out, he's still a hit with the ladies... Beherndt's book "He's Just Not That Into You" has sold more than 2 million copies and it has been made into a movie. Jennifer Aniston, Ben Affleck, Jennifer Connelly, Drew Barrymore, Scarlett Johansson, and Ben Affleck are among the actors set to star in the film when in opens in October. Say "hi" to Greg Behrendt when you see him at Cobb's this weekend. Our 'Captain of Kaboom' Eric Tucker talked about some of the fireworks he and his team plan to present to us this year at KaBoom. Get the tickets here, we'll see you tomorrow. New Releases Thursday, May 8th: Dave Benson brought in new music from My Morning Jacket. "I'm Amazed" will be on the soon to be released Evil Urges. Also, new music from Los Lonely Boys. "Staying With Me" is the new track. The boys will be back in the Bay Area for the Guerneville Blues Fest in June, plus they'll be doing a KFOG Private concert while in the area. Then, in July, Los Lonely Boys play the Mountain Winery in Saratoga. And Carol Kuester from 511.org stopped by to get us ready for our trip to Kaboom on Saturday. Wednesday, May 7th: One day closer to KaBoom! KFOG's annual outdoor concert and fireworks show is this Saturday on Piers 30/32 in SF. The production crew is hard at work setting things up for another fantastic event, and one of the folks who has helped to make KaBoom such a great sucess these past 15 years is Richard Pedemonte, aka KaBoom Food Czar. From fried twinkies to tasty fish tacos, bring your appetite, there will be something for everyone. Finding Mercury stopped by today. They did a song and will do more songs tonight when they play 12 Galaxies in San Francisco's Mission District. Tuesday, May 6th: KFOG 'Book Guy' Kevin Hunsanger brought in a variety of literary selection for Fogheads today. If you missed Kevin's list you need only to visit the Green Apple Books website and click on the KFOG logo, or better yet visit Green Apple Books and peruse the shelves! Monday, Cinco de Mayo: TV critic Tim Goodman spends time with the KFOG on Mondays. Today he talked about the Miley Cyrus / Vanity Fair scandal (read all about it), he also talked about the failure of TV (click here for his column), and he took calls form his legions of fans.... Check out www.weekendsherpa.com for plenty of ideas New Releases Thursday, May 1st: Joshua Leeds (music producer, educator, and sound researcher) talked psychoacustics with Fogheads. Leeds spent time breaking down why music affects our moods. From Jazz to Rap it comes down to 3 things: tone. tempo, and pattern. Dave Benson (KFOG PD) brought in some new music. Amos Lee has a new album coming in June, it's title is Last Day At The Lodge - we heard the track "Listen" this morning. And Coldplay will release Viva La Vida next month. For now you can get a free download of the new song"Violet Hill" on the bands website. Wednesday, April 30th: William Shatner called in to KFOG to talk about Boston Legal. Shatner plays Denny Crane on the TV series and he wanted to make sure Fogheads got the memo: the show will air tonight on ABC. Also today, SF Chronicle Urban Design writer John King spent time talking about the city's ever changing skyline. Read John King's column on SF Gate, faithfully. Tuesday, April 29th: Mike Doughty stopped by to do "27 Jennifers" live on the KFOG Morning Show. Golden Delicious is the name of his new album, he's playing with a full band tonight at the Fillmore, And if you like blogs, Doughty keeps a good one. Writer/director Jon Favreau called in this morning. He talked about his new film Iron Man. Robert Downey Jr. stars as the unlikely supehero from the Marvel Comics series. Iron Man opens on Friday. Monday, April 28th: Tim Goodman (TV guru) spent time with the KFOG Morning Show. Tim talked about the state of late night talk shows, and Katie Couric's possible premature end as host of CBS Evening News. Check in with the FogCast page, to hear Tim on KFOG. Local band Houston Jones performed "Born in the Moonshine" live on the KFOG Morning Show. They'll play Saturday at the Noe Valley Ministry in SF. All the way from Wales Duffy paid a visit to KFOG. She did her new song "Mercy," then had a chat, and then sang Otis Redding's "These Arms of Mine." And the best part was that Duffy stayed within the Rock of Ages plan! Katey Sagal also spent time with the KFOG Morning Show. Best known as Peg Bundy from Married with Children, Sagal's first love is music and she is in town singing at the Niko Hotel. Thursday, April 24th: Melanie Brenner, National Executive Director of One Brick, popped in today. One Brick is the Bay Area based volunteer organization with one goal, to make volunteering easy. One Brick will be out at Kaboom this year helping to clean up after our big fireworks party. Ed Helms called in, a new season of the Office is underway Thursday nights on NBC. Norah Jones makes her acting debut in the new film "My Blueberry Nights." Jones called KFOG to talk about what ist was like to work with folks like Jude Law, Natalie Portman, and Rachel Weisz. Wednesday, April 23rd: Dig it, KFOG gardening expert Flora Grubb stopped in today. She helped Fogheads with everything from bugs on rose buds, to mold in mulch. Visit Flora at her shop on 3rd St and Jerrold in SF. Ann Killion called in today too. She wanted to talk about the Sharks game last night ... conveniently enough Killion is a sports writer for the SJ Mercury News so she knows of what she speaks. The Sharks won last night in a very exciting Game 7 against Calgary, with a final score of 5-3. Go Sharks! Tuesday... Earth Day, April 22nd: Fogheads were treated to Scoop Niscker's Earth Day address. Scoop has some events coming up in May, and a new book "Crazy Wisdom Saves the World Again!" Learn more on Wes 'Scoop' Nisker's website. Zem Joaquin of ecofabulous took calls and helped Fogheads green it up a notch this Earth Day. Zem has an event tomorrow at Spring on Polk Street in SF where she is helping to promote the new book Healthy Child, Healthy World. Monday, April 21st: Tim Goodman (TV critic) stopped by and talked about all the TV he DOESN'T watch. In a recent experiment, Tim went through all his cable/satelite channels and deleted the ones he would never watch; going from an outrageous 800 some-odd channels, to a slim and sleek 280 channels. Friday, April 18th: Political journalist Marc Sandolow stopped by today. Sandalow spent many years with the SF Chronicle, the last 10 as the paper's DC bureau cheif, and today he brought in his new book. "Madam Speaker: Nancy Pelosi's Life, Times, and Rise to Power" will be in stores very soon, in the meantime you can find it on Amazon. Also, Giants broadcaster Mike Krukow spent time talking baseball - Kruk is in St. Louis this weekend. Go Giants! Thursday, April 17th: Record Store Day is this Saturday and The KFOG Morning Show started the celebration early with a visit from Henry of Open Mind Music. All morning Henry played vinyl on the KFOG turntable and folks called in with record store stories. Get more information on Record Store Day. Flash forward to what's new on CD; Benson brought in new music from Alanis Morrisette, and a killer band out of the UK called Elbow. Wednesday, April 16th: Author Doug Fine paid a visit to the KFOG studio today. Fine is a contributing journalist to NPR and he has just written a book on his journey to living the carbon-neutral paradise. Farewell, My Subaru: An Epic Adventure in Local Living is a witty and informative account of one man's move from an addiction to fossil fuels to a self-sustained grid-free life. You could look at this book as a guide to what NOT to do when going carbon-neutral. Tuesday, April 15th: Charles, aka Social Grace, our etiquette expert spent time with Fogheads today. Charles is back in the Bay Area and you can find him through his website Dear Social Grace, or on the new forum for the ladies, it's called SheZoom. There is a fantastic event, this Thursday, to benefit the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, it's the 6th Annual Monte Carlo Night. Joe and Tim founders of this fundraiser wanted to invite Fogheads to the event. There will be tasty nibbly bits from some of San Francisco's finest restaurants, beverages aplenty, and all the fun that comes with gambling... for charity. Renee Richardson from the KFOG Morning Show will host. Monday, April 14th: Senator Barack Obama is in trouble for comments made at a recent fundraiser: "You go into some of these small towns in Pennsylvania, and like a lot of small towns in the Midwest, the jobs have been gone now for 25 years and nothing's replaced them," Obama said. "And they fell through the Clinton administration, and the Bush administration, and each successive administration has said that somehow these communities are gonna regenerate and they have not. And it's not surprising then they get bitter, they cling to guns or religion Happy-fun-time with Tim Goodman. Every Monday the San Francisco Chronicle TV critic spends a few precious moments with KFOG, and more often than not he gives CBS a hard time. Well not today my friend, Tim was singing the praises of the comedic genius found only in the classic TV sitcom forum. And where does one find said laugh-track laden classic sitcom? On CBS of course! No longer looking down his nose at the likes of "Two and A Half Men" and "Big Bang Theory," Tim Goodman has seen the light, or is it the big beautiful eye that has so bewitched him?
