NAPA VALLEY – The guys from Con Brio stopped by for an interview after they killed it at BottleRock 2017.
This self-described “psychedelic-soul” group from San Francisco has deep roots in the Bay that they reflected on.
“Singing was always a very strong passion from a young age but professionally it began [for me] in the Bay Area,” says lead singer Ziek McCarter “We started writing new music in the vein that we feel will represent con brio at this point now. It’s always been a development”
The term “con brio” refers to a music direction “with vigor” – and they definitely live up to the name.
“As long as people are present and ready to really engage, and rage, and ride the wave with us,” McCarter said about whether he prefers festivals or small venues.
McCarter himself was definitely engaged in his performance as he danced the afternoon away, drawing moves from some of his influences, like Micael Jackson.
Con Brio will be playing in San Francisco June 17th and 18th at SF Jazz.
