‘Stranger Things 2’ release date announced

Netflix confirmed the much-anticipated 2nd season of ‘Stranger Things’ Tuesday. The series originally hinted at a return date on Halloween in a Super Bowl ad, but the 9 episodes will be ready for binge-watching 4 days early: October 27th.

The vintage-horror series revolves around a cast of 4 stellar pre-teen youths exploring mysterious forces unleashed by a secretive government lab in Hawkins, Indiana. After a hit debut season, the 2nd iteration of ‘Stranger Things’ will probably continue the pre-established storyline and answer some hanging questions from Season 1.

In a press release, Netflix offered a bit more context: “It’s 1984 and the citizens of Hawkins, Indiana are still reeling from the horrors of the Demogorgon and the secrets of Hawkins Lab. Will Byers has been rescued from the Upside Down, but a bigger, more sinister entity still threatens those who survived.”

The first season is expected to be a contender at this year’s Emmy awards; nominations will be announced Thursday.
