Arthur chats with local neXt2Rock finalist Dig The Kid

Mornings on KFOG host Arthur chats with local neXt2rock finalist Dig The Kid. With drive and determination to start one last passion project, Lisa Mongelli convinced former graphic designer Corey Todd to come out of music retirement and be each others saving grace. The Oakland natives found an overwhelming synergy, and Dig The Kid was formed.

What’s the sound? Todd notes that The Town pushed the band to blend in the ground roots feeling that exists within the welcoming arts community. Their music embodies the philosophy of living life on the edge, like their end title track for the recently released remake of surf film classic Point Break Still Breathing.”

With achieving success the DIY way, the duo decided to enter the neXt2rock competition by simply going for it. Mongelli comments, “we heard about it from a friend…and just hope for the best.” Guitarist Corey Todd adds that the running joke within his family is that he hasn’t really made it until he’s been played on KFOG.

What’s next? Dig The Kid has two upcoming LA shows – the Greenbar Distillery on November 11th, and then close out the year at the Gibson Showroom in Beverly Hills on December 14th. The neXt2rock local finalist will be announced on November 21st, and the top five nationally voted best bands will take the stage on December 12th at the iconic Viper Room in Los Angeles. The winner will receive a deal with Big Machine/John Varvatos Records and radio airplay.. and be named neXt2rock.
