Silver Scream Festival is dedicated to finding the next generation of horror storytellers

Horror fans: Christmas has come early. For three days in February, Silver Scream Festival will be taking over the second floor of the Roxy 14 in Santa Rosa to bring this year’s best in science fiction, horror, and fantasy entertainment. Screenplay writers, graphic novel authors, plus feature, short, and animated filmmakers from all across the world submit their work to be featured in the annual festival. Attracting screenwriters, actors, directors, and fans alike, it’s a true “breeding ground for the future of horror.”

Now on the third annual festival, the first two taking place at the Roxy and then in Dallas alongside the Famous Monsters Convention, Silver Scream Festival will again offer a chance for Bay Area horror fans to see special anniversary screenings, celebrity Q&As, and the best in independent short and feature films. I got a chance to talk with production manager Jorge Marrero about the spirit of the festival and why there is nowhere quite like the Bay Area for it to take place.
