Then we’ll rock out with The Baseball Project, featuring Peter Buck & Mike Mills of R.E.M. They do a song about the Oakland A’s, who never get the respect the Giants do. Michael Franti will salute the Orange and the Black in an exclusive live KFOG version of “Say Hey.”

And Chuck Brodsky will share musical memories of watching Richie Allen, the first black player on the Phillies, and Eddie Klep, the first white player to play in the Negro Leagues. Both athletes were booed and scorned in the day, not allowed to sit or eat with their teammates. This perspective reminds us the role America’s Pastime played in our national history – and that progress is possible.
