Tom Morello joins Portugal. The Man and Whethan to play “Every Step That I Take”

Tom Morello with Portugal. The Man and Whethan performed an experimental “Every Step That I Take” on Jimmy Kimmel Live on Thursday night.The collaboration opened with a declaration: “”This is a communique from the Atlas Underground. One foot in the shadows, one foot on the breaks… one step towards the gallows where its quite and safe” (whatever that means). Unsurprisingly, Portugal. The Man’s John Gourley’s voice soars over Morello’s guitar.
Morello wrote the track after Chris Cornell passed away in 2017 with the intention of shedding light on mental health issues and promoting suicide prevention.
“Every Step That I Take” appears on Morello’s just-released solo album, The Atlas Underground.
