Sir Sly has it’s own take on Portugal. The Man’s “Tidal Wave.”
The band’s remix slows down, souped-up chorus, and an added a seemingly politically-charged verse with lyrics like “Welcome to the United States/Of Do Whatever the Fuck You Want/That is/As long as you’re white and important.”
In a tweet releasing the song, Sir Sly tagged Parkland school shooting survivor and gun-control activist Emma Gonzalez and Stoneman Douglas school shooting survivor and activist David Hogg, asking them to “keep fighting for the (people).”
“Remixed “Tidal Wave” and added a verse from the heart. Thanks for the lovely source material (Portugal. The Man).”
