It’s no surprise “Africa’s” resurgence was ushered back into public consciousness 2018 after Weezer’s megahit cover. It sparked many remixes and covers, but none worse, maybe, than this.
The song sits at 75% thumbs down on YouTube just one day after it’s release. Many commenters felt compelled to apologize to Toto.
Rivers Cuomo recently tweeted that “mentally, I’m in a weird place” and that we shouldn’t “expect any good entertainment for the next week.” We’re wondering if Pitbull has anything to do with it.
Here are some of the Internet’s best reactions:
there’s a real Aquaman movie and a fake one starring Vinnie Chase in Entourage and somehow the real one is the one with a song where Pitbull samples Africa by Toto

It took 34 years, but I've found the worst song in recorded history. It's Pitbull's take on Toto's "Africa" for Aquaman and its awfulness is a spectacle to behold. From the speaking intro to every Pitbull "whooooo" coming out of the hook. It's glorious. https://t.co/RUnR0f2GKt

Was going to make a joke here but this is too perfect on its own: Pitbull covered Toto's "Africa" for the #Aquaman soundtrack. https://t.co/T6eKfssyOf pic.twitter.com/0xjaK3IcI0
