KFOG Studio Sessions are presented by Marin General Hospital, proudly delivering exceptional care in a healing environment.
With heavy bass lines, catchy melodies, and relate-able lyrics, Bay Area favorite K.Flay is sure to get your adrenaline pumping.
Kristine Flaherty, known to the world as K.Flay, grew up in Illinois then made her way to the Bay Area in 2003 after being accepted to Stanford. It was while attending school that she realized she had a love for music and wanted to shake up the rap and hip hop genres by steering away from the “simplistic and misogynistic” hits.
She started writing and recording music on her computer and started performing in the local music scene. From there, her popularity continued to grow and she’s since collaborated with artists like Robert DeLong, Mike Shinoda, Tom Morello, and more. With two studio albums behind her and one one the way, K.Flay is a force that can’t be stopped.
It’s so easy to connect to her lyrics and sentiments behind her music. The night before her KFOG Studio Session, the “Bad Vibes” singer performed at Bottom of the Hill in San Francisco and set up a section of the merch booth for people to write down things that have been bothering them recently.
“So basically you could come up there, we bought some markers, you could write down something that’s giving you bad vibes. And one of things I think is cool about a show is that there’s a physicality and a uniqueness to it, like, it’s that night only in that venue with those people.”
K.Flay also gave a shoutout to her parents, her mom specifically, mentioning that she’s is trying to master the art of hard-boiling eggs and stated, “I believe that one day she’s gonna do it.”
We need K.Flay to give us inspirational hard-boiled egg and non-related hard-boiled egg pep talks all the time!
K.Flay played a couple songs for a KFOG Studio Session for a few lucky KFOG radio listeners. KFOG Studio Sessions are exclusive live music events for KFOG radio listeners; the only way in is to win tickets!
