‘Game Of Thrones’ Creators Will Be Writing Next ‘Star Wars’ Film

LOS ANGELES, CA – SEPTEMBER 18: Writer/producers David Benioff (L) and D.B. Weiss accept Outstanding Writing for a Drama Series for ‘Game of Thrones’ episode ‘Battle of the Bastards’ onstage during the 68th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards at Microsoft Theater on September 18, 2016 in Los Angeles, California. We’d be so down for a Game Of Thrones/Star Wars crossover.

*Insert lightsaber and dragon sounds*.

It seems the closest we’ll get to said crossover is GOT creators writing the new Star Wars movie. After The Rise Of Skywalker, the current trilogy will end and GOT‘s David Benioff and D.B. Weiss will take control of the beloved film franchise.

Speaking on their decision to choose Benioff and Weiss, Disney’s Bob Iger recently stated at a media summit that, “the next movie that we release will be their’s. And we’re not saying anything more about that.”

It’s unclear if Benioff and Weiss will only be writing this standalone film, or if they’re set to write more scripts for additional movies in the future.
