While playing a show in Utrecht in 1992, Eddie Vedder met a fan named Valeska Custers backstage.
They ended up hanging out at a cafe til 3 am and riding around on the back of Custers’ brother’s bicycle. At a recent show in Amsterdam, Vedder reminisced about her saying, “I remember her hair flying against my face. I am almost certain I would recognize her face.”
Custers was not in attendance at that show but heard about it after and ended up getting interviewed about the experience.
After someone in Vedder’s backing band saw it, they reached out and the two reconnected at a solo show in Brussels. We hope this friendship lasts!
