If you have a 510 area code, hold on tight to it.
The East Bay numbers have been dwindling in availability for a couple years now, and new residents of Alameda, Oakland, Berkeley, Hayward, etc. who want to register for a new cell number will now be issued a 341 area code.
This won’t apply to people who already have 510 in front of their numbers, you’ll be able to keep yours if you have one, but East Bay residents don’t seem extremely happy about it in general.
This happened to SF in 2016 when the 415 area code ran out and 628 was introduced.
All in all, just a minor annoyance, but still sad to see the iconic 510 numbers disappear.
