KFOG Studio Session: Smith & Thell

KFOG Studio Sessions are presented by Marin General Hospital, proudly delivering exceptional care in a healing environment.

With captivating folk guitar riffs and gorgeous vocals, Swedish duo Smith & Thell are here to make you feel all the things.

The pair grew up playing instruments at a young age, picking up guitar and singing in and out of bands. As Smith mentioned to No Name, “My first band was called Nipple Garden. It was a punk rock band with only girls.”

The songs Smith brings to the table for the duo now is probably way more low-key, we imagine. The band also writes music for other artists, constantly surrounding themselves with new ideas and melodies to work on.

They released their debut LP Soulprints in 2017 and their EP Telephone Wires in 2018, which includes their hit “Forgive Me Friend”.

Smith and No Name talked about why there’s so much musical talent that comes out of Sweden to which Smith replied, “I think Swedish people are actually a little more free, like dare, to go for their dreams.” Music schools and music education is free there, which opened up lots of opportunity for the duo to dive into music at a young age.

Smith & Thell played a couple songs for a KFOG Studio Session for a few lucky KFOG radio listeners. KFOG Studio Sessions are exclusive live music events for KFOG radio listeners; the only way in is to win tickets!
