Lorde compares friendship with Taylor Swift to an autoimmune disease

Lorde’s sophomore album Melodrama released June 16, but not without drama. The 20-year-old singer-songwriter, in an interview with The Guardian, gave us insight on the difficulties involved with being friends with someone as famous as Taylor Swift:

It’s like having a friend with very specific allergies. There are certain places you can’t go together. Certain things you can’t do. There are these different sets of considerations within the friendship. It’s like having a friend with an autoimmune disease.

Her remarks have since drawn attention all over Twitter and other news outlets, and she has since apologized, but her fans were not happy.

She went on to talk about her album and the pressure involved with living up to the expectations of a second album, mentioning that she wants every piece of work she does to be part of a wider career collage.

Needless to say, Lorde’s been making headlines everywhere in wake of her new album. She’s even expressed her secret love and obsession for onion rings in a recent interview with Jimmy Fallon and elaborated on the reasoning behind her move back to New Zealand, mentioning that fame really wasn’t for her when she didn’t have to do it. “I’ll do it when I have to do it, and when I don’t have to do it, I’m just going to peace out… and go 10 thousand miles away from it.” Check it out above.

Onion rings and controversial statements aside, her new album has been reviewing pretty well.
