As many in the Bay Area already know, Oakland has become a haven for foodies, and this week on KFOG Eats, Alicia and Arthur discover some of the hidden gems of Oakland’s KoNo (Korean Northgate) district with their trusty food guide Ellen Fort of Eater SF.
Ellen starts with one of her personal favorites, Gogi Time, which offers an all-you-can-eat lunch menu and table grilling.
Then it’s off to Pal’s Takeaway, run by Jeff Mason, who Ellen describes as a “sandwich whisperer” because of his unique combinations and tasty meats, including Laotian sausage.
Arthur, who lived in the KoNo district for years, chimes in with his favorite Korean spot in the area, Dan Sung Sa. Listen in below to find out the unusual reasons Arthur loves this truly unique institution.
