NASA brought Green Day commemoration to Mars

green day lands on marsNASA may have made history Monday when it landed a spacecraft on Mars, but so did an East Bay rock band.

Apparently, “Green Day Since 1986” was etched on a chip on the NASA InSight Mars Lander.

After the InSight mission took place, Green Day tweeted their connection to the spacecraft.

One commenter found it funny that Thirty Seconds to Mars was not involved instead.

The lander has been traveling for six months, crossing 300 million miles, a mission that more than half of the attempts have failed. Watch the video below for the scientists’ reaction to the Mars landing at the NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena, California Monday.
